| Résumé : | To a considerable extent, eighteenth-century Anglo-Irish verse circulated in manuscript, often remaining completely unprinted. What is needed now is greater attention to a significant body of this manuscript verse, both in Irish libraries and elsewhere. When this verse has been more fully examined, we will be better positioned to assess the work of eighteenth-century Dublin poets and to understand how verse circulated in the Dublin of Swift’s era. |
