Résumé : | One interesting development in contemporary feminist theory is its recent rapprochement with psychoanalysis. In her book Around 1981, which just appeared, Jane Gallop reminds us it was not until 1985 that (M)Other Tongue, "the first anthology of psychoanalytic feminist criticism was published". Gallop is responsible for some of the most exciting explorations recently of the interrelations of gender and metaphor and metonymy, the key tropes in contemporary critical theory. There interrelations, I would argue, are useful to a reading of Joyce's "A Mother" |
