Résumé : | A central feature of recent attempts to deal with major economic and social problems on the part of the Irish state (typically heavily influenced by the European Union (EU)) has been to resort to a new policy measure in the form of area-based partnership schèmes. The basic idea behind these schemes is that all the competent actors in the development process be brought together in a way that will allow them to pool their talents and complement each other over a set period during which, under the stimulus provided by the partnership, a cycle of accelerated local development is expected to occur |
