| Résumé : | In this article I intend to revise the prevailing critical opinion that the poetry of Medbh McGuckian is apolitical. I want to argue that she uses the words of other writers - Osip Mandelstam, Carlo Ferdinando Russo, Soren Kierkegaard, Ludwig Feuerbach - to set up personnally enabling analogies for the Troubles. I also want to signal an increasing openness with regard to political subject matter in her work subsequent to Marconi's Cottage |
