Résumé : | This article describes the work of the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund which was set up as an independent charitable fund to look at ways of responding to the needs of victims of the past thirty years of conflict in Northern Ireland. The article plots the development of victims issues as part of the political process in Northern Ireland and the development of the Memorial Fund as a positive response to the needs of victims. The author, Mr Brendan O'Mahony, a Civil Servant based in the British Government's Victims Liaison Unit, is Secretary to the Board of Directors of the Northern Ireland Memorial Fund. Prior to taking up this post, he held the position of Deputy Talks Administrator for the Multi-Party Talks which culminated with the Good Friday Agreement on the 10 April 1998 |
