Economic prosperity during the Celtic Tiger stimulated the development of the job market, and drew migrants to Ireland especially form EU countries. Relationships between Irishwomen and female migrants in employment sectors reflected new social tensions and inequalities, both in the public and in the private spheres. While the current recession, and the austerity plan adopted by the government, have deteriorated living conditions in general, women mostly, natives as well as migrants, have been hit by the welfare cuts meant to reduce the budget deficit |
