| Résumé : | This article examines social and political relationships in Northern Ireland in the wake of the suspension of the devolved Northern Ireland Assembly. It explores the working relationship between Irish republicans and Ulster loyalists in the Assembly. It identifies those social and economic issues that offer the greatest prospects for co-operation. It also assesses how both groupings envisage the future development of Northern Ireland's devolved institutions and the extent to which models of institutional co-operation may promote a "spillover" effect that may eventually result in the thawing of social and political relationships between loyalist and republican communities in the wider society |
