Résumé : | Stephen Livingstone was professor of Human Rights Law at Queen's University, Belfast. He published extensively on Human Rights, the judiciary and constitutional and prison law. He was a member of the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland and was on the management board of the Commission on the Administration of Justice (CAJ). As a Human Right lawyer, he did consultancy work and was involved in setting up training sessions for judges, police officers, prison officers and academics in Africa and Eastern Europe on behalf of such bodies as the British Council, the European Union and the Council of Europe. For him, South Africa was an interesting experiment of transition. In this interview, he addresses the fundamental issue of Human Rights in Northern Ireland and their enforcement through the relevant bodies established by the Good Friday Agreement. He also deals with the reform of the Criminal Justice system and various legal issues in today's Northern Ireland |
